The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) has partnered with the Presidential Broadcast Service—Bureau of Broadcast (PBS-BBS) to launch a dedicated radio program to provide valuable information and support to the Filipino senior citizens.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on 18 March 2025 at the PIA Building in Quezon City. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both agencies to enhance the well-being of senior citizens nationwide by delivering essential updates, resources, and inspiring stories through radio broadcast.
NCSC’s OIC Chairperson and CEO, Dr. Mary Jean P. Loreche who has actively championed senior citizens’ welfare through nationwide outreach, emphasized that the program is a significant step in expanding NCSC’s mission. She recognizes the power of broadcast media to reach and uplift the communities, especially those senior citizens in the far flung areas. Dr. Loreche further emphasized that the NCSC is dedicated to strengthen its connection with senior citizens by providing them with relevant information and meaningful engagement opportunities.
With the strong support of PBS-BBS Director Fernando Amparo-Sanga, the NCSC has been granted free airtime for the program for six months, ensuring that crucial information is readily accessible to seniors citizens.
“Golden Heart: Puso Para Sa Seniors” will serve as a reliable resource, informing elderly citizens about available government benefits and programs while promoting their physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Starting 27 March 2025, the pilot episode of “Golden Heart: Puso Para Sa Seniors” will air on Radyo Magasin 1278 kHz, a government-run station under the PBS-BBS, and will air every Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with a simultaneous Facebook Live broadcast via the official NCSC Facebook page to allow a wider audience to tune in. Listeners can expect updated information on latest undertakings of the NCSC and the implementation of its programs, inspiring stories, expert advice, and discussions designed to help them navigate and fully enjoy their golden years.
Through the reach of Radyo Magasin, a station dedicated to preserving national heritage and culture, the initiative will not only inform but also inspire, celebrate, and honor the elderly population.
This collaborative effort between the NCSC and PBS-BBS is committed to make a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of Filipino senior citizens, ensuring that their golden years are filled with knowledge, support, and a renewed sense of community. This initiative also encourages families and caregivers to take a more active role in supporting their elderly loved ones.
