NCSC Collaborates with Private Partners to Empower Seniors and Promote Dementia Awareness

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) took part in a groundbreaking private community-based initiative at the GritXL Community in Barangay Lagundi, Morong, Rizal, on 17 January 2025. The event marks the Commission’s efforts to foster collaborative partnerships to enhance the well-being of senior citizens across the country.

Organized by Lifecare Independent and Assisted Living in collaboration with Gunita para sa Dementia, the Institute for Dementia Care Asia (IDCA), Purple Angel, and LifeCare Living Solutions, Inc., this undertaking provided a platform for raising dementia awareness and engaging seniors in meaningful activities. The program included lectures on dementia awareness, memory games, music therapy, and a unique "Dance for the Brain" activity.

NCSC representatives emphasized the Commission's commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of senior citizens through its flagship initiative, the Senior Citizen Community Care (SC3C) Program. This innovative program is designed to address the diverse needs and promote the holistic health of senior citizens. The representatives underscored the SC3C's comprehensive approach, encompassing a wide range of services such as health screenings, home-based care, psychosocial support, and access to essential resources. By providing these services, the SC3C aims to empower senior citizens to live fulfilling and independent lives within their communities. NCSC further emphasized the importance of fostering a society that respects and values its elders, ensuring their dignity, independence, and well-being.

This partnership marks significant milestone as the NCSC and IDCA are currently in the planning stages to incorporate INDAK as a regular program at SC3Cs nationwide. The official launch of this initiative is scheduled on 25 March 2025, in Moalboal, Cebu.

This reflects the NCSC's commitment in a multi-sectoral approach to senior citizen welfare, underscoring the power of collaboration between government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private enterprises. By promoting a supportive environment, the NCSC aims to ensure that senior citizens, particularly those affected by conditions such as dementia, receive the care, respect, and support they deserve.

The NCSC applauds Lifecare’s dedication to fostering vibrant communities for seniors and is proud to contribute to such impactful initiatives. The event’s success exemplifies the potential of public-private partnerships to drive innovative and sustainable solutions for senior citizen welfare.
